As previously announced, W. Kenny Massey will retire as Modern Woodmen’s president and CEO at the end of 2022. Effective Jan. 1, 2023:
- Jerald J. Lyphout will transition from national secretary and executive vice president to president and CEO.
- Acting under the provisions of Modern Woodmen’s bylaws, the board will select Shea E. Doyle, Bettendorf, Iowa, to serve as the new national secretary. He will also become an ex officio member of the board.
Doyle began his Modern Woodmen career in 1994 as assistant counsel in the Legal Department. He was promoted to counsel in 1999 and to senior counsel in October 2014. He was named assistant general counsel in March 2018 and assistant national secretary in 2021.
Shea holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa. He earned his Doctorate in Business Administration from St. Ambrose University in 2006. He’s earned life insurance industry designations of Fellow, Life Management Institute; and Associate, Life and Health Claims, and he has formerly held series 6, 26 and 63 securities licenses.
